I stepped in expecting college life to hit me in the face, but it was just as pleasant as ever. Fed up of introducing ourselves, we cut it short and changed the topic of discussion. As our seniors had invaded our break time and we had no time to go to the canteen to satisfy our pangs of hunger, we gulped down some water and headed to the hall on the second floor.As we retreated into the air-conditioned hall and seated ourselves, a short film about the college was played with the college’s trademark soundtrack “Yatra” We were then introduced to the student council of the college. Free to leave, we slowly made our way out of the gates of the college. Rejoicing, that I had managed to complete day one of my college life, I turned back to take a last look at the college before I left day one behind.

When we go beyond the teachings of Scripture (as Manning and Foster have done in their contemplative prayer advocacy), with the silence, we are, indeed, entering dangerous ground.Dr. Rodney D. Prayer is to think intently on God…There is no getting around the fact that contemplative prayer is heretical…How can Foster and Manning receive spiritual nourishment from people who throw out the Great Commission?…How can a Christian leader like Manning recommend Thomas Keating’s book on centering prayer when Keating says things like, “In order to guide persons having this experience [divine oneness], Christian spiritual directors may need to dialogue with Eastern teachers in order to get a fuller understanding.”

Parents worry themselves sick over partiesBy Sarah Womack, Social Affairs Correspondent(Filed: 19/06/2006)Competitive parents are making themselves ill with worry about whether the parties they organise for their children’s birthdays will be as much fun as those thrown by other parents.A survey of children’s birthday trends reveals that parents spend an average of ã129 on their child’s birthday party, and are three times more likely to experience a stomach upset in the run-up to the big day than their child.Children questioned in the survey, however, would happily give up the lavish party and go back to basics with a game of pass-the- parcel or musical chairs.While mothers and fathers are opting for more high maintenance gifts and gadgets such as PlayStation2s, Game Consoles (28 per cent) and iPods (20 per cent), children are more excited by traditional toys.

Police are charging an Idaho man with killing his wife after her severed head flew from the bed of his pickup truck during a crash that also claimed the lives of another woman and her child, officials said on Friday.Alofa Time, 51, of Nampa, Idaho, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Theresa Time.
